We are looking for a passionate, experienced and dynamic person as Program Officer- IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group (AsESG)
The IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group (AsESG) is a global network of specialists studying, managing, monitoring, and conserving Asian elephants (Elephas maximus) across their 13 Range States in Asia. The overall aim of the AsESG is to promote the long-term conservation of Asia’s elephants and, where possible, recover populations to viable levels; provide sound scientific and technical advice to aid decision-making and conservation actions; and build the capacity of Asian Elephant Range States to manage the species and the challenges it faces. The office of the Chair- AsESG is based at Wildlife Trust of India, National Capital Region, India.
Scope of Work
The Program Officer (PO) will assist the Chair of AsESG as the Officer responsible for the day to day administrative work and technical coordination of the activities related to the AsESG Chair office. The PO is expected to liaise and maintain regular exchange within and amongst the membership of AsESG, governmental, non-governmental agencies, donor organizations and their counterparts on issues related to Asian elephant conservation and management. The Chair may assign the PO additional tasks as and when the need arises.

Qualification and Experience
Qualifications
Master’s degree or its equivalent in Environment, biodiversity conservation, Wildlife, Social Sciences or equivalent subject.

Language requirements
Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Fluency in any of the range state languages and proven competence at public speaking would be an advantage.
Other requirements
If the applicant is not a citizen of India, they should meet all the requirements to get the VISA document and work permits to work in India.
